Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Winston Salem

Being the first Academy in the triad to open a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy gives us a distinct advantage called “time and experience”

Lucas Lepri Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & FitnessKevin Pyles began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu over 22 years ago. His passion for the art lead him to open American Martial Arts Academy in 1998 which was the first of its kind in the triad. This allowed him to share Jiu-Jitsu with the Winston Salem community and surrounding areas.

His mission was to create a path for everyone to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in a fun and welcoming environment whether they were interested in competition, self-defense or fitness. By taking only the best aspects from over 20 years of BJJ experience and multiple instructor influence, he has created one of the most comprehensive Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu curriculums available today and the academy has experienced remarkable success.

American Martial Arts Academy is one of the largest academies on the East Coast which includes; a full health club with modern amenities, take down room with special impact adsorbing flooring, full size octagon cage and MMA training facility, hydro massage room, functional training facility with astro turf, massage therapy, and an in- house physical therapy clinic.

In addition to creating this state of the art facility, Kevin became one of the first, Lucas Lepri Brazilian Jiu Jitsu affiliations which has propelled the Academy to a World Class level offering the latest and most effective Brazilian Jiu Jitsu techniques and training methods offered in the world today. Due to popular demand, he opened a second location in January of 2016, in Mount Airy NC and brought in renowned instructor Paulo Santana from Brazil, to assist with the Winston Salem Academy.

As a new student at American Martial Arts Academy you will be welcomed by instructors, staff and fellow students. We will help you find your starting point no matter your age, fitness level, experience level or gender. We will teach you the appropriate warm ups, stretching routines and fundamental building blocks of fitness and BJJ to ensure a successful learning experience.
